“One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice…but little by little as you left their voices behind. The stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds. And there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, as you strode deeper and deeper into the world. Determined to do the only thing you could do” – Mary Oliver, Author and Poet.
As you begin to follow your vision, it is natural to begin to share your dream with others. Gaining feedback is a natural part of the energetic operating system. People around you begin to give you advice and the words “you should, if I were you, and good idea/bad idea” begin to enter your near field. As you listen, you may begin to notice that you feel drained or irritable by the advice being given. Pay attention to these moments as they are clues indicating detours in your path. A detour is defined by a divergence from an intended route, usually caused by well meaning advice or opinion rather than feedback. When advice is given that leaves you feeling drained, you have received opinion rather than feedback. To regain the action around your vision, seek out someone in your sphere that provides you with positive feedback. You will see it clearly because that person will suspend judgment, opinion and advice and will begin to speak words that light you up. You have found an ally that uses an energetic operating system rather than an analytical operating system.
When you find that the feedback around you begins to drain your energy, return to your vision and refocus your energy. Stop and take time to find a person who is willing to be your mirror and ask them to give you accurate feedback on what really lights you up as you speak. Take note of the feedback. When you encounter “friendly advice,” do not take it personally. Remember that well meaning people often use their own fears and worries to protect you, which will keep you from realizing your own vision.
