It is so easy to get distracted this time of year with holiday events and family traditions to loose your focus on being present. We have all experienced times when your body was present, but your mind was not.

This year, give the gift of your presence along with your packages by remembering to check in with yourself daily. It is simple if you create the habit. While you are writing out your holiday to-do’s, be sure to add “daily check in” to continue to add your presence as a holiday tradition.

First, sit quietly somewhere free from distractions, even if only for a few minutes. Ask yourself what is different, what has worked, what has not served you, then ask for your body to be relaxed, your mind focused and curious, your spirit light and grateful for friends and families and celebrations. Remember to set your intention for the day, even if it is to simply complete your holiday tasks.

Even just a few short moments at the beginning of your day to check in with yourself can make all of the difference in the world. When things begin to get crazy, if I have performed my daily check in, I find that I remind myself naturally to stay in the moment.

A quote to remember – a favorite of ours which we loved so much that we used it on ourr wedding announcement –

“If you love someone, the greatest gift you can give them is your presence” Thich Naht Hanh

This holiday give both presents and presence.
