SPIRITUALITY IN THE WORKPLACE

You may have had the experience of working as part of a team where everything clicked. It just felt right. Everyone worked together with flow and ease. The feeling was incredible.

Coming to work was pure joy knowing you were part of something bigger than you. There was a purpose to your work. The people you worked with were your friends, and the work you did together made a difference in the world.

Certainly there were challenges. But, all the team members wanted to be there, and gave the work, the project, the team their best stuff. There was aliveness to the place that was palpable. Everyone who came in contact noticed and wanted to be part of the aliveness.

Most of us yearn to be part of an organization that provides this experience.

It’s not just about having a good job and a good paycheck. It’s about the daily work experience that connects to your heart and spirit. You want work that energizes and enriches your very soul. You want a work environment that ignites your passion and purpose by giving you a vision to be inspired by, and an environment that supports that shared vision every day.

We believe it is possible for life and work to be comprised of one vital, energetic flow, where there is no difference between working and not working.

Where people are:

• Living each day happily free from judgment or criticism
• Creating a new reality by making daily choices that are lights-on
• Choosing only energizing actions to move them toward their vision
• Attracting what they want into their life effortlessly
• Focusing on and manifesting magnificent lives

If you are a leader in an organization, bringing spirit into an organization begins with you. It all begins with your vision of what you want to create. Without your own vision being deeply and passionately connected to the work you do, it is almost impossible to awaken the passions and productivity of the people you work with.

When you learn to monitor what lights you up, what energizes you every day, what gives you reason to get out of bed in the morning, you then have the ability to understand and direct the passions and dreams of your employees.

However, bringing spirit into the workplace is not only the job of the leader. Each and every person working there has a responsibility to do the same. If you are not a leader, you can still have a huge impact on this.

It does require that you have vision for what you want in your life and work; that you find work that you are passionate about and that energizes you every day. Doing work that you are passionate about creates an energy flow that impacts everyone around you.

Whether or not you are the leader, there are a couple of universal principles to follow every day that will create spirit based energy. These principles will help you stay grounded, conscious and aware as you go through your day.

It is, first of all, important that you recognize that what you focus on expands. If you focus on all that is wrong, you will feel even worse, and your negative energy becomes infectious to all aspects of your life. You will actually attract more of what is wrong.

Instead, it’s more effective to focus on all that is positive. The positive energy can ultimately have a greater impact on the workplace by counteracting the negative. By shifting your focus, the Law of Attraction will bring you more of the positive energy you want around you every day.

A primary way to stay energized and able to touch your spirit and the spirit of those you work with is to hold your own personal energy field and not be controlled by what happens in your near field or the remote field.

Basically: personal is you; near is your environment; and remote is the whole world. The importance of understanding energy fields is that you are affected by all of the fields only to the extent that you allow it to happen.

You have total control over your personal energy field. A primary tool to contributing a high involvement of spirituality in the workplace is to hold your personal energy field steadily in all circumstances.

Another spiritual principle is the principle of manifestation – how you manifest what you want every day.

There are four key steps to manifest what you truly desire.

• Set your intention or your vision of what you want: Be very clear, state what you want, not what you don’t want. Write it down. It is important to have a visual representation of your vision to remind you often of what you want.
• Focus your attention on creating your vision: What you focus on expands, so focus only on what you want, not on what you don’t want. Allow yourself to visualize often what you want to create.
• Take aligned action: Step directly into action. Watch for clues – is it an effort or does it flow easily? If it is effort that drains you it may be a clue that your actions are not energetically aligned, or your vision is not energetically connected to your heart.
• Release the outcome: Trying to will what you want to happen will keep you from seeing a better version of your dream when it appears.

Having a shared vision with everyone doing work that they are passionate about, focusing every day on what energizes them, and setting daily intentions accompanied by aligned action will go a long way to creating a deep connection to the spirit of each and every worker.
